CANADIAN WILDCRAFTED RED CLOVER
Happy Canada Day! One of our favourite new ingredients is the red clover herb that is grown and collected from the wild here in Canada! The flower heads are collected in full bloom, during the summer months. It's edible and a nice addition to salads and it's used in herbal medicine for cancer prevention, asthma and a host of issues. And of course, it has incredible skin healing properties - it's most well known for healing burns and chronic skin diseases including eczema and psoriasis.
Our first product to contain this beautiful herb is our Morning Light Botanical Face Cream! This also the first product we launched using our custom marbled paper print created by local Vancouver artist Dorthy Williams of Marbled Studio.
THE ANCIENT ART OF MARBLED PAPER
The art of marbling originated in Japan in the twelfth century with the discovery that ink floating on water could be transferred to paper. Three centuries later, artists in Turkey further developed the art form by drawing in the paint floating on thickened water, before transferring the resulting pattens to paper. Knowledge of this new art spread into Renaissance Europe, where patterns and techniques were developed. The different marbling houses in Europe carefully guarded the process of marbling but by the nineteenth century the secrets of marbling were revealed to the general population. The paper used for this art has the most beautiful texture and creamy white colour before the paint has even been applied! We hope you feel the layers of craft and history that have gone into creating our newest addition to the Face Care Collection. X Allison
